As artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) continue to drive unprecedented demand for scalable, high-density infrastructure, the need for resilient, location-flexible energy solutions has never been more urgent…

In an aim to meet these escalating demands, Future-tech is proud to announce their strategic partnership with Deep Atomic, a pioneer in on-site nuclear integration for data centres.

Together, this collaboration is designed to accelerate the development of nuclear-powered data centre projects by launching a joint “Stage 0” feasibility and planning program, providing clients with a unified, execution-ready path for assessing and initiating multi-site deployments of data centres powered by Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).

Introducing the “Stage 0” Program for SMR-Powered Data Centres

The “Stage 0” program integrates both Deep Atomic’s specialised knowledge in nuclear feasibility and Future-tech’s established data centre advisory process and extensive experience in data centre design.

The comprehensive “Stage 0” feasibility and planning program encompasses several key phases:

Stage 0.1: Initial Assessment & Data Centre Site Screening:

Involves rapid RAG (red/amber/green) reviews of data centre site constraints and high-level nuclear viability.

Stage 0.2: Technical Due Diligence:

During the technical due-diligence phase, engineering studies and up to three “test-fit” layouts per site are conducted, modelling SMR integration and thermal-fluid energy balances.

Stage 0.3: DATA CENTRE Site Maturity & ESG/Economic Analysis:

Focuses on developing detailed ROI and Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) models, permitting roadmaps, assessments and ESG impact.

Stage 0.4: Masterplan & Investment Readiness:

Delivers design packs, masterplans for viable sites, and a strategic funding and execution roadmap.

A Unified Vision for the Future of Data Centre Infrastructure

Both Future-tech and Deep Atomic are dedicated to providing expert guidance to clients in the data centre industry through nuclear feasibility, optimised infrastructure planning, and funding strategy from the outset.

“As data centre capacity continues to grow, it is key to find high-density, sustainable power solutions that are more location-agnostic than renewables such as hydro, wind and solar. We believe SMRs will play an important role in the future energy mix, and we excited to work with Deep Atomic on-site assessment, feasibility, design and integration projects.” James Wilman, CEO of Future-tech.

Here at Future-tech, we boast a successful track record of delivering over 4 GW of data centre designs in the last four years, and we are delighted to be partnering with Deep Atomic, known for the innovative MK60 SMR – the first reactor specifically engineered to provide both 60 MW of electricity and 60 MW of cooling capacity for the data centre industry.

“Our goal is to help clients make high-confidence infrastructure decisions at the earliest stages of planning,” William G.J. Theron, Founder and CEO of Deep Atomic. “By combining Future-tech’s design intelligence with our experience in integrating a range of energy technologies – including nuclear – we offer a unified pathway from opportunity assessment to execution readiness.”

Our key deliverables will include the following;

  • On-site test-fit facility layouts
  • ESG and permitting gap analyses, detailed economic models
  • Comprehensive masterplan kits suitable for investors and regulators

Our strategic alliance is focused on enhancing project efficiency, optimising site selection, and mitigating regulatory risks for companies pursuing large-scale data centre deployments. By strategically selecting sites and technical pathways early on, our partnership is poised to expedite the licensing process and prevent expensive project alterations.

Why Should You Partner with Future-tech and Deep Atomic?
