During March Atlantis Resources Corporation leased a seabed site located close to Orkney and the Pentland Firth. Whilst this region has some commercial issues, such as transmission constraints and the lack of a local industrial load, Atlantis plan to overcome these by incorporating some innovative solutions.
Project Blue is a green data centre project which will see at least 30MW of data centre capacity be built in the North of Scotland and be powered by Atlantis tidal turbines. Along with this abundant renewable energy source the use of “free cooling” will further improve the green credentials of this project. On a local level this project will potentially create approximately 700 new jobs for the area.
