Future-tech’s data centre design review increased resilience, reduced cost and improved energy efficiency. Future-tech, data centre specialist, was appointed by a major African Telco to provide a design review for the new Sub-Saharan data centre. Future-tech’s industry leading design team employed a thorough and pragmatic approach ensuring all areas were rigorously assessed and improvements holistically embraced the project’s strategic outcomes.

THE BRIEF

To improve resilience, operational sustainability, energy efficiency and the costs associated with the data centre construction and operation of a 650 cabinet, 4MW data centre. To work through the project brief, design and strategic project objectives with a view to provide alternative data centre solutions and improvements.

THE FUTURE-TECH SOLUTION

Future-tech worked in accordance with the Uptime Institute and EN50600 standards to provide an unbiased appraisal of the data centre design which had been completed by a third party design consultancy.

Future-tech’s amended data centre design removed single points of failure, increased energy efficiency throughout the facility, most markedly in the cooling infrastructure, and reduced data centre construction costs by 8-12%.

The revised data centre design solution provided the client with a different selection of Air Handling Plant, Transformers and Generators, which all contributed to lower construction cost, greater operational resilience and improved energy efficiency.

Future-tech introduced a mixture of traditional and leading edge technical solutions together with an innovative data centre design philosophy.

Engineer Sales Director

“It was great to engage with the project while it was still in the design phase. This meant our recommendations could be accommodated easily and without affecting programme. The traditional, non-specialist, building services design consultancy was open to our ideas and specialist data centre knowledge. The two teams worked in a collaborative way and the project was a resounding success.”
