Regularly updated news and comments regarding data centres and the broader I.T. industry

"The system went live in October 2009, and we’re already seeing significant benefits in terms of reducing our energy usage. In fact we’re so pleased with what’s been done to date that we’ve now commissioned Future-Tech for a second phase of work to introduce free air cooling across the whole computer room."

Peter Allwright – Data Centre Manager, Sainsbury’s

Last week Future-Tech were officially awarded the contract to design and build the University of Brighton’s new Data Centre.

After a close run tender process the University selected Future-Tech based on their competitive price combined with a detailed and innovative submission. Within the submission were imaginative solutions to different aspects of the room’s design and construction showing the selection panel that each stage of the project had been thoroughly thought through. This demonstrated an understanding of the University’s needs as well as Future-Tech’s extensive experience in data centre design and build projects.

Pete Sands, Future-Tech’s Lead Consultant on the project, said “working with Universities, Brighton included, is very rewarding as they tend to have a long term view and understand that investment in innovative solutions leads to greater sustainability and value over the life of the facility”.
